SIX SIGMA
Primo Medical Group applies Six Sigma concepts when the problem or project demands this type of tool. The term "Six Sigma" simply means a measure of quality that strives for near perfection. Six Sigma is a disciplined, data-driven approach and methodology for eliminating defects. The goal of a Six Sigma project is to improve the effectiveness and reduce the costs of processes by identifying and removing the sources of defects and reducing the causes of process variation. Primo Medical utilizes this approach for controlling various processes from the engineering department to the shop floor and the office in our quest to deliver the highest level of value to our customers.
The Six Sigma methodology employs a standard means of analyzing problems and opportunities recognized by the acronym DMAIC: Define, Measure, Analyze, Implement, and Control. The term Six Sigma corresponds to 6 standard deviations (sigma) between the process mean and either specification limit. A Six Sigma capable process will minimize process variation so that no more than 3.4 defects per million are produced.
A Six Sigma Green Belt works on a project utilizing the DMAIC principles either individually or in a group and then makes a formal presentation to other project teams and company management. Black Belts work on more complex problems and serve as trainers and mentors for less experienced practitioners. The goal of all projects is to implement the process improvement so that real savings can be realized for our customers.
As part of Primo Medical's investment in our people, our knowledgebase and most importantly, our Customers, we are proud to have these Six Sigma practitioners on staff:
